Fern Harger Student Exchange Scholarship Fund

We have established the Fern Harger Scholarship Fund to provide financial aid to help students participate in our student exchange programs with Berkeley's Sister City, Sakai, Japan.  Fern Hager and her husband Jack were a driving force in the early years of the Berkeley-Sakai Association, planning student exchanges and serving as exchange leaders.  Fern was known for her excellent program preparing and nurturing the students for their adventure to Japan.  In July, 2010, Fern received the Order of the Rising Sun, Silver Rays, from the the Emperor of Japan for strengthening and deepening friendship between Japan and the United States.
